InstaVolt to reach 1,000 EV charge points by summer

InstaVolt has confirmed that it is on track to install reach 1,000 EV chargers in the summer, becoming the UK’s largest charegpoint operator.

The announcement comes during a period of rapid growth, with the charge point operator planning to energise its 700th charger in the coming weeks. In addition to this, the network has more than 200 chargers in construction, and a pipeline of new sites in development with its partner-landlords that include McDonald’s, Costa Coffee, EH Booths and KFC which will see charger numbers exceed 1,000 during the summer months.

Not only is the network opening new sites to make chargers accessible to more EV drivers but is also about to launch its first expansion project as it installs eight additional chargers at its popular hub on the M40 in Banbury. During 2022 the network will also launch its first rapid chargers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Speaking of the news, InstaVolt’s chief executive officer, Adrian Keen, said: “Improving public charging infrastructure across the whole of the UK is vital for people to feel confident enough to make the switch to electric vehicles. I’m proud to be spearheading the delivery of more rapid chargers to all four corners of the UK.

“The past year has seen InstaVolt grow its network by over 50%, and there is no slow down expected over the coming months and years. Each month, SMMTs figures demonstrate the rise in EVs on the road, and our announcement dispels the myth that investment in charging infrastructure is lagging behind vehicle numbers.

“Not only does the UK need more chargers, but those chargers need to be reliable, in great locations and easy to use. The InstaVolt network delivers these requirements to drivers, as well as corporate fleets making the transition to electric.”
