InstaVolt charges ahead to hit 2000th device milestone
Chargepoint operator Instavolt has installed its 2,000th charger in the UK as it works towards an ambitious target for 2030.
The ultra-rapid charging specialist has doubled its device numbers in the past two years and aims to have its 3,000th charger operational within the next 12 months. By 2030, it intends to roll out 11,000 chargers across the country.
The 2,000th device is part of a new six-charger hub based at the Co-op convenience store in Blackfen, in the London Borough of Bexley. Positioned just off the A2 – a key route connecting East London with the M25 – InstaVolt says it continues its commitment to support EV drivers in urban, high-density residential areas.
Delvin Lane, CEO of InstaVolt, commented: “The installation of our 2,000th charger at Blackfen reflects our rapid growth and dedication to delivering critical EV infrastructure where it’s needed most.
“Whether it’s along commuter corridors, in tourist hotspots, or in urban neighbourhoods like this, our focus is on installing and operating world class, ultra-rapid chargers in great locations for the benefit of the UK’s 1.4 million – and growing – electric vehicle drivers.
“With 11,000 chargers planned by 2030, we’re making it easier than ever for drivers to make the switch to electric.”
Instavolt is among the major players in the UK’s public charging network, owning and operating 13% of the country’s rapid chargers.
The latest data from Zapmap shows that there are now more than 76,000 public EV chargers in the UK – a year-on-year increase of 29%. Rapid charger numbers are up 11% while ultra-rapid (150kW+) numbers have jumped by 66% and have almost reached party with rapid devices.
Charging hubs – sites with or more rapid or ultra-rapid devices at a single location) continue to show the highest growth, with 49 of them installed across the country in the first quarter of the year, bringing the total across the UK to 586.
