Honda to showcase new baby EV at 2025 Festival of Speed

Honda is set to show off its new Super EV compact electric concept car alongside the European debuts of its next-gen electric SUV and motorbike at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The Honda Super EV Concept will make its global debut at the annual automotive extravaganza, showcasing the Japanese firm’s vision for a new urban EV.

Honda says that concept aims to demonstrate how an A-segment model can offer “fresh, fun-to-drive” electric performance alongside Honda’s traditional usability.

Although it did not confirm that the Super EV was a precursor to a production car, Honda did say it had undergone feasibility testing in the UK as part of a wider global programme. That suggests it could be among the seven new all-electric models Honda plans to release in the next few years.

If it does make it to market, expect the production Super EV to compete with the likes of the Hyundai Inster, BYD Dolphin Surf and upcoming Renault Twingo as well as the rumoured return of the Citroen 2CV.

More details of the Super EV concept will be revealed at the Festival of Speed, which runs from July 10 to 13. Also making their European debuts at the show are the upcoming Honda 0 SUV and two concept electric motorcycles.

The 0 SUV prototype was first shown to the public at the CES show in Las Vegas in January and gives a clear indication of Honda’s next generation of all-electric models.

Built on a brand new EV-specific platform, the 0 SUV is an evolution of the Space Hub concept seen in 2024 and will be the first of Honda’s new EVs. Expected to rival the Tesla Model Y when it goes on sale in early 2026, technical details remain thin on the ground but Honda is targeting a range of around 300 miles and is believed to be working on single- and two-motor variants. It also claims the 0 SUV’s driver assistance systems will be some of the most advanced on sale.

On two wheels, the EV Fun Concept hints at Honda’s first “full size” electric motorcycle while the smaller Urban EV concept is intended to share Honda’s vision of urban electric mobility with a “function-focused design”.

Hans de Jaeger, senior vice president of Honda Motor Europe, said: “We are excited to return to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year with a dynamic pan-brand showcase of everything Honda has to offer our European customers.”
