Everrati has revealed full technical details on its new high-performance zero emission version of its GT40.
Headquartered in Oxford, UK, Everrati joined forces with Superformance to reimagine and re-engineer the legendary Le Mans-winning car with a custom-designed electric drivetrain for a zero-emissions future. Superformance, based in Jupiter, Florida, has produced a rolling chassis for the GT40 built under license.
Everrati’s EV powertrain generates up to 800bhp and 800Nm of torque, with state-of-the-art technology from Integral Powertrain providing twin high-performance OEM-validated radial flux permanent magnet electric motors that supply drive to the car’s rear axle.
The power-dense 60kWh lithium-ion battery integrated into a sector-leading 700-volt electrical system benefits from advanced liquid-cooling and thermal and safety management systems to support high-performance use on both road and track. The battery can be charged from 20% to 80% via an 80kW CCS fast charger in as little as 45 minutes and provides a range in excess of 125 miles.
To ensure optimum weight distribution and enhance vehicle dynamics, every element of the powertrain, including the battery and driveline, utilizes existing chassis structural mounting points. Battery packs are positioned within the sills and behind the driver and passenger, while the low positioning of the battery in the chassis also optimizes rear visibility.
Everrati Engineering Director, Mike Kerr, said: “Future-proofing a car of the GT40’s legendary status is both a privilege and a challenging responsibility. Quality and authenticity are of paramount importance at every stage. That’s why at Everrati, we insist on the complete design and development process being documented and controlled using OEM-derived practices. Utilizing Everrati V model product design and delivery methods, ensures quality is maintained at every stage of the vehicle development process, from concept through to post-production sign-off.
“Everrati delivers the best electric drivers’ cars in the world and preserves the original characteristics of the past masters we work on, such that they can be enjoyed by aficionados in the coming age of zero-emission mobility.”
The company has also enabled its drivers to channel the true character of the original GT40 with ‘Race Mode.’ By selecting this mode, the driver (and passenger) experience twin active sound generators, which deliver up to 110db of augmented V8 exhaust sound.
The gear shifter – which is normally used to select drive, reverse or neutral – also enables the driver to select virtual gears, with each shift synchronised to the sound generators and torque delivery giving a corresponding momentary ‘pause’ in acceleration to ensure driver engagement that invokes the experience of driving a car with a conventional transmission.
Mike Kerr added: “A car such as the GT40 comes with a heritage and performance that sets high expectations. Through our strategic partnership with Superperformance, we are confident that we have delivered something extraordinary. The engineering team at Everrati is immensely proud to have received the honour of creating the only GT40 EV in the world to be listed in the official Shelby Registry.
“Our OEM-derived process approach has delivered a car of exceptional performance. At the same time, our advanced driver-focused visceral engagement technology will enable drivers to access a fully immersive aural experience and reignite the romance of the era in which the GT40 dominated the Le Mans 24 Hours in the 1960s, in a new era of zero-emission electric mobility.”
Everrati Founder and CEO, Justin Lunny: “The GT40 personifies Everrati’s philosophy. While many companies perform electric conversions of classic cars, our approach goes far beyond that. Deploying an OEM mindset and skillset, we redefine the vehicle as a new car with state-of-the-art design and engineering executed by a team with extensive experience at some of the world’s most celebrated car makers.
“The GT40 showcases how Everrati is taking the art of future-proofing automotive icons through electrification to the next level. And with a scalable production process in place and an ambitious strategy to collaborate with new manufacturing partners, we are poised to grow the company and engage with a new global customer base for the GT40 and our other models.”
