Europcar expands electric fleet with addition of Kia Niro EV, offering more zero-emission options for drivers

Europcar Mobility Group UK is continuing to expand its electric vehicle (EV) offering, adding the Kia Niro EV to its rental fleet. Available for hire across the UK, the addition of this award-winning all-electric vehicle gives motorists a chance to experience zero-emission driving firsthand.

As Europcar furthers its commitment to support both businesses and private drivers on their journey toward net zero, the Kia Niro EV joins an impressive range of electric models already available, including the Tesla Model 3, Mercedes-Benz EQ models, MG4s, Jeep Avengers, and the Skoda Enyaq. The growing fleet highlights the company’s focus on providing a variety of eco-friendly options to meet the diverse needs of its customers.

Tom Middleditch, Head of Electric Mobility at Europcar, emphasised the importance of offering low-commitment access to EVs: “The Kia Niro EV is a great fit for customers who want to test zero-emission motoring in real-world conditions. Our research shows that cost and concerns about charging infrastructure are key barriers to EV adoption, but renting allows drivers to experience electric motoring without the commitment of purchase.”

According to Europcar’s latest EV Barriers research, 64% of drivers identified purchase costs and maintenance as the biggest hurdles to switching to an EV, while 46% expressed uncertainty about the availability of charging infrastructure. However, short-term rental options allow drivers to get accustomed to electric vehicles at their own pace.

The Kia Niro EV is particularly well-suited for urban driving, offering a practical, compact SUV design with a range of up to 285 miles on a single charge. It supports 72kW rapid charging, enabling it to reach 80% battery capacity in just 45 minutes, making it ideal for those looking for convenience and reliability.

Europcar’s approach to vehicle charging further simplifies the experience for its customers. Every electric vehicle is provided with between 50% and 80% battery charge at the start of the rental and can be returned with as little as 20% charge. This stress-free charging policy means renters can focus on enjoying their zero-emission journey without the worry of refuelling before returning the car.

As more businesses and private motorists transition to electric motoring, Europcar’s expanding EV fleet offers a flexible solution for testing and adopting these vehicles. Whether for a short-term rental or a longer-term option to support business sustainability goals, the Kia Niro EV represents an excellent choice in the move towards greener travel.
