Alpine will put the test mule for its first electric A110 into action at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The French performance brand will reveal the mule at this year’s automotive extravaganza, with Formula 1 drivers Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto giving demonstration drives up the famous Goodwood Hill.
The third-generation A110 is the first electric version of the famous two-door sports coupe. Alpine claims it will be the world’s first “true EV sportscar”, and bring the same performance and poise as the current petrol-powered model.
The next-generation EV is based on the new all-aluminium Alpine Performance Platform (APP), which will also underpin convertible and 2+2 models. Designed to give true sports car handling, the A110 will have 40:60 weight distribution and two battery packs to allow it to retain its low, sleek profile.
The 800V architecture will support a twin-motor setup and ultra-fast charging while the A110 EV will also see the debut of new integrated steering and braking system and use Alpine’s active torque vectoring for added agility.
While demonstrating the performance of the electric A110, it’s not clear how much of a clue the test mule will give to the new car’s design.
The test mule will form part of a celebration of the A110 as Alpine marques a new chapter in its history.
Alongside the development model, the brand will showcase various landmark models to trace the car’s evolution from the 1960s rally car to today’s EV. It will also have its current EV line-up of the A290 hot hatch and A390 performance SUV-coupe on display.
This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed runs from July 9-12 and will see a host of EV firsts. The radical Renault 5 Turbo 3E will make its dynamic debut on the hill while MG will reveal two new EV concepts, including an early look at the upcoming MG2. Denza will also officially launch its UK operations at this year’s event, showcasing its Z9 GT shooting brake, Bao 5 off-roader, and D9 MPV.
