Dacia has announced a fresh drop in price for its compact Spring EV ahead of the car’s replacement next year.

Already the UK’s cheapest full EV, the Dacia Spring now starts at just £11,990 for the entry-level Expression model. The higher-grade Extreme model weighs in at £12,990.

Dacia says it has been able to make the price cut thanks to “production efficiencies” in its budget-friendly city car.

Following a significant update at the start of the year, every Dacia Spring now features air conditioning, cruise control, rear parking sensors, a digital instrument display, along with improved motors and chassis upgrades.

The Expression model features a 69bhp motor, while the Extreme version gets a 99bhp unit. Both use a 24.3kWh battery for up to 140 miles of range.

On top of the basic trim level, the Dacia Spring Extreme adds, a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, vehicle-to-load functionality, copper-accented styling, electric rear windows, and a reversing camera.

2026 Dacia Spring Extreme

Earlier this year, Dacia introduced its own in-house EV grant to cut the price of the Spring. The new pricing appears to have made that discount a permanent part of the on-the-road price and represents a further £250 reduction.

The Chinese-built Spring, which has been on sale in the UK since 2024, will be replaced with an all-new model in 2027.

The European-made Dacia Spring will be based on the same platform as the inbound Renault Twingo. While details are scarce, that is likely to mean a 27.5kWh battery for up to 163 miles of range, along with an 82bhp motor.

Dacia has already said that the next-generation Spring will stay true to the original’s value-focused approach with “the essentials of a 100% electric powertrain, four real seats and a proper boot”. It is expected to cost from under £15,000 and could make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.
