Not your old Saxo: Citroen revives VTR for all-electric e-Dispatch van

Citroen has brought back its VTR nameplate for its e-Dispatch light commercial van, harking back to the days of the performance-focused Saxo, Xsara, and C2 VTRs 0f the late 1990s and late 2000s.

Under the skin, the Citroen e-Dispatch VTR is not changed from the regular e-Dispatch with a 75kWh battery. Capable of traveling up to 230 miles on a single charge, the e-Dispatch VTR has a maximum charging speed of 100kW, meaning it can be charged up to 80% in 45 minutes.

Like the standard e-Dispatch, the VTR can take a maximum indicative payload of either 937 kilograms or 1,001kg. The former offers a load space of 5.3 cubic metres, and the latter 3.2 m3.

The biggest change between the VTR and the standard e-Dispatch is visually. The VTR comes with VTR badging and a sporty body kit with a front slip spoiler, side skirts with integrated protective front mud guards, plus a rear spoiler matching the rear bumper.

Further external differences include the diamond-cut 18-inch ‘Dynamic’ wheels, to move away from the usual, utilitarian light commercial vehicle aesthetic.

Step inside the Citroen e-Dispatch VTR, and ventilated eco-leather seats are finshed with contrasting red stitching an a perforated material for ventilation.

A ‘Comfort Pack’ featuring dual-zone electronic climate control, plus keyless go and wireless mobile charging are also including, as well as a Winter Pack with a heated steering wheel, heated driver’s seat, and first-row thorax side airbags.

Despite the visual upgrades, Citroen says that the materials used across the Ellesmere Port-built e-Dispatch VTR remain as hardy and resistant as ever.

Irrespective of trim level, the e-Dispatch comes with a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, plus Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatability.
