Battery diagnostic specialist Aviloo has introduced an industry first battery warranty for used EVs.
In a bid to boost buyer confidence in secondhand EVs, the independent warranty will pay out £2,700 if a customers’ battery falls below its guaranteed threshold within a year.
The warranty is issued separately from Aviloo’s existing independent battery certificate but uses the firm’s proprietary systems to tests and verify a battery’s state of health.
Each vehicle covered by the warranty is tested and an individual state of health (SoH) minimum threshold is set, based on a year and/or 20,000km of use.
During the warranty period, buyers can carry out a SoH check using Aviloo’s Flash test and if the SoH has dropped below the threshold they will receive the cash compensation and a refund on the test. The test assesses real battery capacity, thermal management, and charging capability against original factory specifications, and cover 96% of EV models currently on the road.
Aviloo says its new warranty allows dealers to offer enhanced value and reassurance to customers and gives drivers more confidence in the car they are buying.

The product is being rolled out across the UK and several other European countries in July after initially launching in France and Sweden earlier in June.
