Audi A6 e-hybrid promises 64-mile range from PHEV setup
Audi has revealed its new A6 e-hybrid quattro, promising more than 60 miles of all-electric range from the plug-in hybrid model.
Joining the all-electric A6 e-tron, petrol and mild-hybrid diesel models in saloon and estate variants, the A6 e-hybrid quattro will open for orders in June, with first customer deliveries later in the summer.
The all-new plug-in hybrid uses a 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to a 105kW electric motor that is integrated into the housing of the seven-speed DSG transmission. In combination, they produce a total of 295bhp and 332lb ft of torque. That’s enough to get the A6 saloon from 0-62mph in six seconds and carry it on to a top speed of 155mph.
Powering the latest A6 PHEV’s electric system is a new 20.7kWh battery, offering around 45% more capacity than the previous-generation A6 TFSI e. Improved battery technology means the capacity boost has had little impact on the physical size of the battery.
The new battery gives the saloon version of the A6 e-hybrid an electric-only driving range of up to 64 miles, while the Avant estate manages 63 miles on a charge. AC charging has been improved to 11kW meaning a full charge takes two and a half hours on a compatible device.

The new A6 PHEV features improved braking regeneration drawing on Audi’s pure EV models. Drivers can select from three levels of energy recuperation or use a smart sat nav-based setting which will plan energy recuperation based on elements such as gradients, corner radii and speed limits along the route.
All versions come with quattro all-wheel drive and all UK cars also get four-wheel steering as standard for better low-speed manoeuvrability and high-speed stability.
Prices for the new Audi A6 e-hybrid start at £60,980 for the saloon in Sport trim, with the estate costing an extra £1,950. Above that, the S Line costs £63,780/£65,730 and range-topping Edition 1 comes in at £68,680/£70,630.
All versions get matrix LED headlights, leather upholstery, heated front seats, four-zone climate control, a 14.5-inch OLED touch display and 11.9-inch digital instrument panel. S Line models add sports suspension lowered by 20mm, 19-inch alloy wheels in place of Sport’s 18-inch ones, privacy glass, sports seats and aluminium and brushed steel interior trim details. Edition 1 cars get a bump to 20-inch wheels, black exterior trim, red-painted brake callipers and Dinamica fabric on the sports seats and headliner. They also get an enhanced driver assistance package and additional airbags.
