5 Things you can’t miss in this Formula E season

It’s a new season, new electric Formula E, excitement, new technology, hard competition.  Formula E, the top electric racing series, is getting bigger and better — close races and cutting-edge technology.

Formula E’s 2019 season, however, is becoming increasingly unpredictable, as new tracks, new team updates, new drivers, and a tougher championship fight than ever are finally upon us.  Whether you are looking through the standings of your favorite driver or simply watching the news there is plenty of excitement to hold fans.

1. Technical Innovations and Rule Changes

This season represents by far the biggest jump for electric racing in years and so the new car brings massive improvement with Gen3.  The Gen3 car is faster and more efficient, the battery is better, and it’s lighter: all of this not only helps performance and energy recovery during a race, but also means it’s easier to charge away from the track.

There will be no lap let up in the championship fight as race tweaks mean there is not a rest bite for the fight to the finish.  The new rules, for example for running the energy or for race formats, prevent any of the teams from getting too much away at any point of the season.  These changes keep Formula E at the top of eco-friendly motorsport.

Sports Betting in Formula E

With Formula E excitement on the rise – so too is interest in Formula E betting. However, now fans can bet on race winners, pole positions, fastest laps, and championship results. The uncertainty of Formula E, between its power strategies, weather and the cutthroat racing, all adds to it being exciting for the bettor.

Up to date odds are offered by leading platforms enabling fans to maniacally engage with the sport in richer ways. That said, don’t sleep on small teams you might not have expected to see end the year on a high, either, as Jaguar and Porsche are top teams and must be watched, but small teams can do things, as can happen. Online sports betting is more than just having fun for enthusiasts; it also makes it a good experience to watch Formula E.

2. Driver Changes and Rivalries

The season has been given extra excitement by key changes in the driver market.  Jaguar TCS Racing, DS Penske and TAG Heuer Porsche – Formula E’s top teams – have bolstered their ranks and played a pioneering role in kick starting the auctioning process.

New talent has come out to try to challenge the champion drivers, and now they are looking to defend their titles.  There is anticipation for some excellent battles between those seasoned Formula E drivers (Mitch Evans and Pascal Wehrlein) and those still young and keen to impress with them in Formula E.

Champion drivers are hoping to defend their titles, while new talent goes out to challenge them. Some exciting battles can be expected between experienced drivers (Mitch Evans, Pascal Wehrlein) and fresh men eager to show what they can do in Formula E.

3. Calendar Highlights

The 2024 Formula E calendar is made up of iconic race locations, and thrilling new circuits.  ‘Once that hurdle is cleared will then be back to some of our more popular cities like Monaco and Berlin to host our famous street races, and other new locations that will bring some new challenges and excitement for teams and fans alike.’

This season’s races all feature global variety with colours and excitement of Asia, excitement of European capitals, and some of the grandest stages in the world.  With key dates on the calendar it’s just a matter of when you’ll see another must see race on the calendar that can sometimes decide the championship.

4. Team Strengths and Weaknesses

As compact as ever, Formula E shows off the teams’ advanced technology.  Maserati MSG Racing and McLaren Racing continue their ascent as defending champions.

Strengths such as better energy efficiency and sureness came out in pre-season testing, but tire wear, or race strategies may help tip the result one way or another on race day. This year’s championship will be won just as much with smart, strategic planning as speed.

5. Off Track Highlights and Fan Engagement

Formula E is still leading the way in being innovative and redefining fan two way engagement. This can be done thanks to digital platforms, interactive fan zones and behind-the-scenes updates, and fans are closer with their favorite teams and drivers than ever.

Also, gaming partnerships, virtual racing events and eco-friendly campaigns provide added entertainment and bring on younger, tech savvy fans to Formula E.

What’s at Stake

With Formula E points fight it’s a big event as both teams as well as drivers can see the big stakes this season.  Will it be an underdog that makes it, or will things remain the same, and history repeat?  There is a major fight for the championship title, and a single race can either put them into, or out of, this fight.

The patterns of title defenses, redemption arcs and underdog stories will keep the fans in a seat on the edge of their seats. There are many other things they have to fight for besides the championship — showcase their technology as a permanent mark in the electric motorsport world.
