The Zeekr 7GT has scored a five-star rating in its first-ever set of Euro NCAP tests, outperforming the new, multi-award-winning BMW iX3 across all four categories.
As of now, the 7GT and the iX3 are the only two cars to have participated in the 2026 Euro NCAP tests, which, for the first time in 17 years, have been heavily revised to be more stringent.
These latest revisions to the Euro NCAP testing protocols now include four new categories: Safe Driving, Crash Avoidance, Crash Protection, and Post-Crash Safety. A 2,000-kilometre (1,242 miles) drive across France and Spain designed to simulate real-world driving conditions. Each category is scored out of 100 points, with minimum thresholds applied.
When it comes to numbers, the Zeekr 7GT scored 79% for Safe Driving, 89% for Crash Avoidance, 93% for Crash Protection, and 95% for Post-Crash Safety. According to Euro NCAP, the 7GT’s crash avoidance system performed “far better than required” and was praised for the “robustness of the protection it offered”.
Meanwhile, the BMW iX3 claimed 73% for Safe Driving, 83% for Crash Avoidance, 86% for Crash Protection, and 95% for Post-Crash Safety.
Upon publication of the results, Lothar Schupet, the CEO of Zeekr Europe, described the 7GT’s performance as “exceptional”.
“This five-star result is an important milestone for our all-new Zeekr 7GT – an exceptional outcome customers now expect from their vehicle in 2026. Being among the first vehicles in the world assessed under the most demanding Euro NCAP protocols ever introduced, and achieving this result, shows our European customers who we are before they even get behind the wheel.”
Dr Aled Williams, Euro NCAP’s programme director, was also quick to offer his congratulations to the Geely-owned Chinese brand.
“The 2026 protocols further strengthen the rigour and relevance of our tests, rewarding vehicles that perform well across all stages of safety, before, during, and after a crash,” he added. “A five-star result highlights an exceptional standard of safety, demonstrated by Zeekr across comprehensive testing protocols. We congratulate the Zeekr 7GT team on this exceptional result.”
The 7GT is Zeekr’s latest Euro-focused model, aimed at the higher end of the all-electric estate market. Rivals include the Volkswagen ID 7 Tourer, the BMW i5 Touring, and the Audi A6 e-tron Avant, all of which are significantly more expensive.
Already on sale in mainland Europe, the Zeekr 7GT is priced from €45,990 for the entry-level Business Edition and comes fitted with a 75kWh battery. The Long Range trim and flagship Privilege are priced from €50,990 and €57,490, respectively, and share the same 100kWh pack.
Zeekr will confirm UK pricing for the 7GT when it lands on British shores later this year. Upon arrival, the 7GT and the 7X SUV will be the first models to be sold in the UK. Zeekr was founded in 2021 as a premium Geely brand and has been operating in Europe since late 2023,
It was also one of the first Chinese car manufacturers to adopt an ‘in Europe, for Europe‘ strategy – Zeekr’s HQ is located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, while its design studios and R&D facilities are in Gothenburg, Sweden.
