The Subaru E-Outback will make its UK dynamic debut as the safety car on the Forest Rally Stage at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Alongside its safety car duties, the all-electric Subaru E-Outback and its smaller electric-only sibling, the Uncharted, will be on display at the Japanese manufacturer’s dedicated paddock area at the start of the Forest Rally Stage.
As Subaru leans into its heritage as one of the rally world’s most successful manufacturers, it will also be displaying two significant cars from its history books: The Subaru Impreza 2001 WRC, in which Richard Burns won the 2001 World Rally Championship, along with the 1992 Subaru Legacy Group N, which Burns drove to that year’s National Rally Championship title.
Speaking ahead of Subaru’s activities at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, brand managing director for UK and Ireland, Lorraine Bishon, said: “Subaru is synonymous with all-wheel drive and an iconic rally sport heritage. The Goodwood Festival of Speed is the perfect setting for the all-electric E-Outback to make its UK dynamic debut and for visitors to explore the new E-Outback and Uncharted models.
The 376bhp E-Outback marks a reset in Subaru’s electrification strategy, while retaining the brand’s highly acclaimed symmetrical all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. The sister car to the Toyota bZ4X Touring, the E-Outback is the latest in a multi-model EV tie-up with Toyota.
The Uncharted is the next car in Subaru’s renewed EV plan, and is based on the Toyota C-HR+, albeit with a more ‘rugged’ Subaru feel. While Subaru announced the Uncharted’s battery and range information in July last year, this still has to be confirmed for the E-Outback. However, these figures are expected to match those of the bZ4X Touring.
Pricing for the E-Outback and the Uncharted is also still to be announced. However, Subaru’s planned activity at Goodwood suggests that an announcement and the opening of order books are imminent.
