Kia introduces PV5 Side Entry as wheelchair-accessible vehicle
Kia has introduced its PV5 Side Entry as a wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WAV) at the recent Motability Scheme Live exhibition in Birmingham, UK.
The Kia PV5 Side Entry is a wheelchair-friendly version of the all-electric PV5 Passenger MPV. Aimed primarily at private transport, taxi services, and shuttle operations, the PV5 Side Entry provides direct access for wheelchair users via its sliding door.
It comes with a a manual two-step ramp system designed for various road and pavement conditions. The ramp has a full incline of 13.1 degrees or 11 degrees when deployed from a 150mm (15cm)-high kerb. An integrated lighting module is also integrated into the ramp to maximise accessibility in darker conditions.
The wheelchair is secured into its centrally position space using an anchorage system, while seating configurations include a 2-0-3 layout for regular passenger use, or a 2-0-1 layout with the wheelchair onboard. A 60:40 split, third-row seat allows a companion to travel alongside the wheelchair user.

Pricing for the Kia PV5 Side Entry has yet to be announced, but it is expected to cost more than the standard PV5 Passenger, which is priced from £32,995 in entry-level and aimed squarely at the much more expensive Volkswagen ID. Buzz.
Riding on an adapted version of Kia’s highly-vaunted GMP.S platform, the PV5 is available with two battery options: a 51.5kWh pack providing up to 183 miles of range, or a long-range 71.2kWh version capable of 256 miles on a single charge.
Since it launched in the UK towards the end of 2025, the PV5 has continued the trend of other electric Kias, and has scooped numerous awarding including 2026 International Van of the Year and Best New Van.
A commercial version of the Kia PV5 is also available. Named the PV5 Cargo, it’s the South Korean carmaker’s answer to the likes of the Vauxhall Vivaro Electric, and Ford E- Transit Custom.
