Mercedes EQE and EQE SUV get range boost and updated specifications
Mercedes-Benz has given its EQE saloon and SUV models a range and performance boost with the introduction of new powertrain variants.
Both models now come with the option of the 350+ single-motor variant. This replaces the 300+ version of the saloon and introduces a rear-wheel-drive variant to the EQE SUV for the first time.
In the EQE 350+ saloon, the new motor brings a 288bhp power upgrade that cuts a second from the car’s 0-62mph time, reducing it to 6.5 seconds. At the same time, the car’s battery has been upgraded to 96kWh, offering up to 429 miles on a single charge – 49 miles further than the EQE 300+.
Fitted to the EQE SUV, this new battery and motor combination brings a 43-mile increase in range compared with the EQE 350 4Matic SUV, taking it to 376 miles.
Along with a lower-powered specification for the SUV, the updates bring a new higher-powered option in the saloon.
For the first time, buyers can now choose the EQE saloon with the 500 4Matic powertrain previously reserved exclusively for the SUV.
Using a pair of motors for all-wheel-drive, the 402bhp EQE 500 4Matic, can sprint from 0-62mph in 4.7 miles and travel up to 385 miles on a single charge of its 91kWh battery.
The EQE Saloon and EQE SUV line-ups have also, allegedly, been simplified with the introduction of three trim levels – AMG Line Edition, AMG Line Night Edition Premium and AMG Line Night Edition Plus. Sport Edition specification remains available on EQE Saloon only and high-performance AMG models are only available in the two higher specifications.
Prices start at £69,105 for the EQE saloon and and £74,495 for the EQE SUV. Among options available to are the Luxury Interior Package – which includes comfort seats with quilted Nappa leather upholstery, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel and heated windscreen – and the Refinement Pacakge, which brings air suspension to both models.
