All-new MG HS SUV unveiled at Goodwood Festival of Speed
The highly-anticipated MG HS SUV has been revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, marking the latest evolution of this top-selling vehicle in the UK.
Celebrating MG’s 100th anniversary, the new HS models include both petrol and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options, reinforcing MG’s commitment to exceptional value and advanced features.
New MG HS Range Details
The updated HS range offers a choice between petrol and PHEV powertrains, maintaining MG’s reputation for value in the SUV market. Prices start at £24,995 for the petrol HS SE 1.5T and go up to £33,995 for the range-topping HS Trophy PHEV. All models come with a generous 7-year/80,000-mile warranty.
Advanced Powertrains and Performance
The new PHEV powertrain combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 154kW electric motor, achieving 0-62mph in just 6.8 seconds and offering an electric-only range of up to 75 miles. This makes it highly appealing for UK company car drivers with a 5% Benefit-in-Kind rate and significant fuel savings.
The petrol variant features a new-generation 1.5T engine delivering 169ps and 275Nm of torque, capable of 0-62mph in 9.4 seconds. It comes with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, with a 7-speed DCT automatic available.
Enhanced Design and Comfort
The new MG HS boasts refined proportions with a longer wheelbase, increased cabin space, and sophisticated styling. It is wider and longer than its predecessor, with a lower overall height for a more athletic silhouette. The front grille reflects MG’s latest design language, while new slimmer headlights and LED taillights add a modern touch.
Inside, the HS features dual 12.3-inch high-definition displays for infotainment and driver information. The Trophy model includes a 360° surround view camera and wireless smartphone charging. The interior is designed for maximum comfort and functionality, with premium materials and increased storage options.
