Renault announces price, range and specification for Trafic E-Tech
Renault has revealed that its new Trafic E-Tech electric van will cost from £34,500 when it goes on sale in mid-2024.
The rival to the Ford E-Transit Custom, Toyota Proace and Citroen E-Dispatch will come with a single powertrain option and three body choices comprising two body lengths and two heights.
Powering the new Trafic E-Tech is a 118bhp front-mounted motor with 181lb ft of torque. A 52kWh lithium-ion battery provides up to 186 miles on a single charge, while rapid DC charging up to 50kW can fully recharge the battery from flat in an hour. On-board 22kW AC charging means that depot and public AC charging can provide a 31-mile top-up in less than 25 minutes.
Customers have a choice of two body lengths (5.08 and 5.48 metres) and two heights (1.96 and 2.49 metres) to offer a load space that ranges from 5.8m3 to 8.9m3. The high roof is unique in the sector and is only available in the longer body length. Loads of up to 4.15m in length can be carried in the long-wheelbase version thanks to a load-through bulkhead, while the Trafic E-Tech has a towing capacity of up to 920kg and a maximum payload of up to 1,222kg.
In the cabin there’s an additional 88 litres of storage spread across the console, doors and bench. The cabin also features Renault’s “mobile office” as standard, where the middle passenger seat folds down to become a convenient work desk, complete with a detachable A4 clipboard and a laptop storage slot.
All versions of the Trafic E-Tech come in Advance trim, which brings an eight-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear parking sensors, cruise control, electric windows, electrically adjustable and heated mirrors and LED headlights. Standard driver assistance includes traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning and active emergency braking. The Easy Link multimedia system also allows scheduled battery charging, remote battery status monitoring, and scheduled cab pre-heating via remote app.
Customers can spec their vans up further with climate control, heated seats, 360-degree parking sensors, a rear parking camera, automatic high beam, automatic headlights, rain sensitive wipers, blind spot warning, and a range of door and glazing configurations.
Prices for the short-wheelbase Trafic E-Tech start at £34,500 before VAT and with the £5,000 plug-in vehicle grant applied. Long-wheelbase models cost from £44,055 after the grant, with LWB, high-roof variants starting at £45,255.
Pre-orders are already open, with official ordering beginning in June and the first customer deliveries expected in September.
