RAW Charging offers free charging sessions for World EV Day

Electric vehicle drivers will be able to charge for free across the UK on Friday to mark World EV Day, thanks to RAW Charging.

RAW Charging will provide free access to their fast AC and ultra-rapid DC charging points to drivers from 12.01am on Friday 9th September until 11.59pm later in the evening.

Locations including McArthurGlen Designer Outlets in York, Yorkshire, and Cheshire Oaks, Cheshire, Greene King Pubs and RAW’s Slough ChargeYard, Berkshire, plus many more will accommodate free charging for one day only.

The move forms part of RAW Charging’s celebration of World EV Day which highlights the role of electric vehicles in driving positive climate change and promotes EV usage globally.

Bruce Galliford, RAW Charging CEO, hopes the one-off offer will inspire more motorists to consider purchasing an electric vehicle in the lead up to the Government’s ban of new petrol and diesel car production from 2030.

“World EV Day is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the wider benefits of e-mobility and how it can shift a major transition to sustainable long-term travel,” said Bruce.

“We hope the incentive of enjoying a full charge on us will prompt EV owners to get out and charge for free ahead of the weekend.

“We encourage all EV drivers in the UK to join our celebration of this game-changing day, and what better way to do that than invite everyone to plug in for free and thank drivers who have embraced sustainable motoring.

“The cost of living is becoming increasingly challenging and while EV motoring remains one of the most cost-effective modes of travel, we wanted to give back as part of the day’s celebrations.

“It’s our objective to upscale our charging destinations across the UK by working closely with landlords, property agents, the hospitality sector and facilities managers. We hope our growth will be mirrored by the number of EV drivers we see on the roads in years to come.”

Bruce added: “It’s important we harness the power of World EV Day to raise awareness concerning changes motorists will experience to their travel routines in years to come.

“We’ve experienced an increase in demand for advice from businesses on how to provide the right EV infrastructure as more people embrace sustainable solutions to public and private spaces.

“The UK has been a key driving force behind EV usage and RAW Charging is committed to delivering reliable cost-effective and sustainable travel. Demand for EV charging units will only grow in years to come, and we are pleased to be supporting drivers to charge their vehicles away from home.”
