Octopus Electric Vehicles launches EV leasing service

Octopus Electric Vehicles has announced the launch of ‘Electric Dreams’, a new leasing scheme which enables employees to switch to a brand new EV.

The new service acts a salary sacrifice scheme, much like the Cycle-to-Work incentive, where employees receive a fully-electric vehicle in return for sacrificing some of their gross salary.Every vehicle taken on the Electric Dreams scheme is 100% electric which it says significantly reduces overall carbon emissions from vehicles, as well as tackling local air pollution. The scheme is currently backed by Tesla, Polestar and Jaguar, along with AA for breakdown cover and Lloyd Latchford for insurance. A number of companies have already signed up to the scheme, including nutrition company Huel and online estate agency firm Purplebricks.James McMaster, CEO at Huel, commented: “We’re not the sort of company that would go with a traditional car scheme. Being able to offer something that promotes cleaner transport has been a real benefit to helping our team live our mission of a more sustainable world – they are amazed at what a brilliant deal this is.”The scheme is bolstered by Electric Dreams’ added incentive of offering drivers ordering before July a free smart home charge point, installed by the Octopus Energy Services team.

Electric charging

The news also follows an announcement from Octopus Energy that customers will now be able to access public charge points from NewMotion, a leading European smart EV charging solutions provider, as part of its Electric Juice Network. This deal also includes the use of rapid chargers from Shell Recharge units at service stations.Customers of Electric Juice will have access to chargers at popular destinations and service stations across the UK and mainland Europe. Germany – where Octopus Energy recently set up an international office – will be a particular focus.Zoisa North-Bond, CEO of Electric Juice, said: “By offering access to Shell Recharge and NewMotion public charge points via the Electric Juice Network, our plans for mainland Europe are becoming even more tangible. Europe’s transport sector needs to decarbonise quickly. “Collaborating with more partners helps create better access to charging infrastructure, which makes it easier for petrol car drivers to consider electric vehicles and simplifies the whole process for current EV drivers. NewMotion provides the EJN customers with rapid charging at Shell Recharge on the motorway and the inner city coverage of the network means EV drivers have more flexibility than they’ve enjoyed before.”
