Milton Keynes named best place to own an EV in UK

Milton Keynes has been named as the best place in the UK to own an electric car, according to a study from CarGuide.co.uk.

The study took into account data from charging app Zap-Map and statistics from ONS, to determine which areas in the UK had the highest and lowest number of charging points per 100,000 population.

It found that Milton Keynes topped the charts, with 137.3 chargers per 100,000 people, with 371 charging points split across a population of 270,203. It also topped the charts for the most rapid chargers, with 121.

Across the Midlands, there are only 127.8 chargers per 100,00 people. Bolton was found to be the worst in the country, with just 8.3 charging points per 100,000 people.

Coventry, which ranked second in the table, boasted 485 charging points but with a much larger population of 379,387. Brighton came third in the list with London ranking in at fourth with 109.9 charging points per 100,000 people.

CarGuide.co.uk founder, Olli Astley, said: “Whilst we at CarGuide.co.uk believe that Motorists getting into electric vehicles is the best way forward due to the benefits to the environment, the UK’s charging infrastructure still has a way to go.”
