Just Eat to switch entire fleet to electric
Just Eat has confirmed plans to remove all fossil fuel vehicles from its fleet by 2025 and replace them with electric vehicles.
The current fleet consists of 175 diesel vehicles, which are used by the company’s sales team to visit prospective restaurant and grocery partners and to provide ongoing support for current outlets already on its platform.
The switch to EV has already begun with the first 12 cars already joining the fleet, made up of pure electric Cupra Borns and Volkswagen ID3s. The change is part of a wider initiative to replace all of its sales and corporate vehicles to electric by 2030.
“Our sales team is committed to providing services to restaurant partners up and down the UK and by replacing all our vehicles with electric vehicles, we are further reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting our environment for future generations,” said Leigh Phillipson, Just Eat UK sales director.
Just Eat has launched numerous campaigns to drive sustainability through the takeaway sector in the UK, including a partnership with Notpla’s to provide seaweed-based compostable packaging to restaurants as well as a recent carbon labelling trial in partnership with My Emissions.
