Cupra Tavascan to go on sale next month priced from £47,340

The Cupra Tavascan will go on sale from early September, the Spanish car maker has confirmed.

The SUV coupe is the second model in Cupra’s all-electric line-up and will sit above the smaller Born hatchback in the range.

Prices for the Tavascan start at £47,340, with order books opening on 11 September. However, the firm is also offering 50 early reservation slots which are open now for drivers keen to secure one of the first examples in the country.

The Tavascan is built on the VW Group’s MEB platform and comes with a choice of power outputs. Both versions use a rear-mounted motor, with entry-level cars offering 282bhp and the more powerful VZ version producing 335bhp to match the Skoda Enyaq vRS and VW ID.7 GTX. The VZ model will go from 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds, while lower-powered versions take a still-decent 6.8 seconds. Both have a top speed of 112mph.

All versions of the Tavascan use a 77kWh battery which, in lower powered cars offers up to 352 miles of range and in VZ trim manages 320 miles. Cupra says that 135kW rapid charging will top up the Tavascan from 10-80% in around half an hour.

From launch, the Tavascan is available in four trim options – V1, V2, VZ1 and VZ2. V1 and V2 are available exclusively with the 282bhp motor, while VZ1 and VZ2 come with the 335bhp unit and feature dynamic chassis control as standard. Prices start at £47,340 for the V1, rising to £60,835 for the VZ2.

All versions bring a 15-inch infotainment system, wireless phone charging, three-zone climate control, heated steering wheel, a powered tailgate and adaptive cruise control as part of a comprehensive ADAS package. Further up the range, a panoramic sunroof, matrix LED lights, heated seat with microfibre upholstery, an augmented reality head-up display and a Sennheiser audio system are available.

Marcus Gossen, director of Seat and Cupra UK, said: “This is a culmination of years of hard work, innovation, and design coming together to create the future of Cupra.

“The Tavascan marks the next step in the Cupra electrification journey, and we’re delighted to be able to bring that to life on the UK roads from 11 September this year.”
