Aston Martin announces the end of combustion engines within its range

A day after Audi announced the abandonment of the development of TDI and TFSI engines, Aston Martin has now also officially announced the end of combustion engines within its range.

However, the CEO of the British brand, Lawrence Stroll, has stated that only pure combustion engines will disappear. Aston Martin’s portfolio will be composed solely of hybrid and electric models in 2030. The models intended for competition will be the last to benefit from pure combustion engines.

Are the purists reassured? Hold on, because Stroll is hoping for predominantly electric sales in 2030. This would mean that there will be fewer hybrid models than electric ones. On the other hand, these hybrid models could take advantage of electrification to offer small combustion engines and lower CO2 emissions.

As a result, the iconic V12 is threatened with extinction and it is likely that it will be present one last time under the bonnet of the Valkyrie hypercar before it disappears for good. Future hybrid models could receive small V6 engines. It’s even possible that the 2.0-litre four-cylinder of the next AMG C63 will make its way to Aston Martin!
