Toyota bZ4X Touring debuts as 376bhp AWD estate

Toyota has revealed its bZ4X Touring as a longer, taller, off-road focused version of its bZ4X SUV.

Based on the same E-TNGA platform as the recently updated bZ4X SUV and the upcoming, all-electric Subaru Trailseeker, the bZ4X Touring measures 140mm longer and 20mm higher than its SUV counterpart.

The AWD Touring also uses the same full-time, AWD system as the Trailseeker, using an electric motor on each axle. Combined, both e-motors produce 376bhp making the bZ4X Touring the most powerful Toyota EV ever produced.

A front-wheel drive bZ4X Touring is also available, producing 221bhp. Both variants draw their power from a 74.7kWh battery with a fast-charging capacity of 150kW. In terms of range, Toyota claims that the bZ4X Touring will be able to achieve up to 348 miles, a figure most likely attributed to the FWD car. For reference, the permanently-AWD Trailseeker is reported to achieve a range of over 260 miles, albeit on the USA’s EPA cycle.

While featuring the recently-updated bZ4X’s sharp front end, the rest of the Touring’s design is very much an echo of the Trailseeker courtesy of the rear lightbar, chunky rear bumper, roof rails, and off-road focused blackened wheel arches. The bZ4X Touring’s outdoorsy character is emphasised by a towing weight of up to 1,500 kilograms and a loading capacity of 600 litres – 148 more than the regular bZ4X.

The bZ4X Touring retains the standard car’s recently-updated interior with its revised centre console and 14-inch central infotainment display. However, a ‘City Moss’ upholstery colour scheme will be made exclusive to the Touring, along with a ‘Brilliant Bronze’ exterior colour option.

Toyota says that the bZ4X Touring is set to arrive in the Europe in spring 2026, with pricing and specifications for the UK model coming later this year. Expect it to come at a premium over the bZ4X SUV, which starts at £42,995. The bZ4X Touring’s sibling, the Subaru Trailseeker, is also scheduled to make it to UK shores during summer 2026.
