Tesla Cybercab UK visit – where and when to see it and how to book a place
Tesla is bringing its much-hyped Cybercab to Europe, including a two-week stop in the UK for fans to get close to the alleged ‘future of autonomy’.
The Cybercab robotaxi concept was unveiled in Los Angeles in October, promising to make autonomous ride-hailing a reality. Now, prototype models will be put on display at various Tesla stores for consumers to get a closer look.
The Cybercab will be displayed in the Tesla store, London Westfield from Wednesday 20 November until Sunday 8 December.
Time slots and spaces to see the Cybercab are limited and anyone interested needs to book a space via this dedicated website.
Examples of the Cybercab will also be put on display in Tesla stores in Berlin, Paris, Stockholm, Oslo and Amsterdam between now and the end of December.
The Cybercab was revealed last month by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who claimed that it would bring fully autonomous passenger transport to public roads by 2027. He told attendees at the We, Robot event, that the two-seat cab would cost less than $30,000 (£23,000) and allow ride-sharing operators to manage fleets ‘like a shepherd with a flock of cars’.
Designed to be used without human intervention, the cab doesn’t have any pedals, steering wheel or other physical controls. Instead, all the cabin contains are two lounge-like seats and a massive central touchscreen. Musk also told guests at the reveal event that the Cybercab would use wireless inductive charging rather than a traditional cable, although he didn’t give any indication of the battery or range buyers can expect.
At the same event, Musk showcased the Robovan, a 20-seat all-electric minibus that also claims to offer full self-driving capability.
The Cybercab display follows the recent Cybertruck tour, which brought the brand’s pick-up truck to Europe for fans to get a closer look at. Like the Cybertruck, there’s no indication of if or when the Cybercab might go on sale in the UK and Europe.Tesla Cybercab UK visit – where and when to see it and how to book a place
