Ohme and E.ON Next team up to offer UK’s lowest EV home charging prices
EV charging firm Ohme has started working with energy provider E.ON Next to offer UK EV drivers home charging rates from little 6.7p/kWh.
The tariff is called E.ON Next Drive, and is designed to offer more affordable charging solutions to motorists nationwide who have made the switch to an EV. E.ON Next Drive offers home charging from 6.7p/kWh for seven off-peak hours from midnight until 7:00am. This makes it the cheapest EV home charging tariff currently available in the UK.
The E.ON Next Drive rate of 6.7p/kWh means that a smart #1 with a 49kWh battery could be charged from 0% to 100% (193 miles) for £3.29 using an Ohme charger.
Jean Coleman, E.ON Next commercial director commented: “Ohme is a progressive EV charging company and our Next Drive tariff offer will help more customers to unlock smarter and cheaper overnight charging, so we’re delighted to be working with them. We want to make the switch to electric easy and accessible for all, helping to ensure that no driver is left behind in the e-mobility transition.”
Ohme CEO, David Watson, added: “Ohme is committed to bringing affordable home charging to as many EV drivers as possible by connecting them with the UK’s best electricity tariffs. This customer offer with E.ON Next is a great step to helping EV drivers access the best tariffs and the best rates on the market.”
This year has been a positive one for EVs in the UK so far. In March 2025, 68,000 EVs were registered on the nation’s roads – a 24% increase on the previous year. Moreover, Zapmap has found that there are now over 80,000 EV chargers located across the UK.
In its spring 2025 statement, the government also announced that it has dedicated £400m to support the rollout of EV infrastructure over the next five years to areas lacking in public sector-funded EV charging sites.
