Jaguar TCS racing becomes Formula E’s most successful team with 24th win in Jeddah
Jaguar TCS Racing has written a new chapter in Formula E history, becoming the most successful team the championship has seen after claiming its 24th race victory at the Jeddah E-Prix.
The landmark win came courtesy of António Félix da Costa, whose commanding Round 5 performance not only delivered his first victory in Jaguar colours but cemented the British marque’s status at the top of the sport’s all-time win table.
Jaguar’s ascent has been methodical. Since joining the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship a decade ago, the team has evolved from ambitious newcomer to benchmark operation, combining in-house powertrain development, strategic precision and elite driver pairings to build sustained success across the GEN2 and GEN3 eras.
Starting third on the grid in Jeddah, da Costa immediately embedded himself in the lead group, balancing aggression with the energy discipline required in modern Formula E. As the race unfolded, Jaguar’s efficiency advantage became apparent.
A perfectly timed 350kW all-wheel-drive Attack Mode deployment allowed the Portuguese driver to seize control in the second half of the race, stretching a decisive gap he would not relinquish. It was a victory built not on opportunism, but on execution, energy management, software calibration and race strategy aligning at precisely the right moment.
Team-mate Mitch Evans added further weight to the weekend with a strong recovery drive to seventh, ensuring Jaguar banked solid championship points across both cars. That followed Evans’ podium on Friday, meaning Jaguar leaves Saudi Arabia with a double-podium weekend and two wins in the last three races.
The 24th victory is more than a statistic. It underscores Jaguar’s long-term commitment to Formula E as both a competitive platform and a technological testbed for its electric road car ambitions.
From the I-TYPE 1 to the current I-TYPE 7, Jaguar has refined its powertrain philosophy around efficiency, thermal control and deployment strategy – core competencies in Formula E’s tightly regulated, spec-heavy environment. In an era where marginal gains determine outcomes, Jaguar’s consistency has proved decisive.
“This is a hugely significant moment for Jaguar TCS Racing,” said team principal Ian James. “António drove with precision and confidence, Mitch delivered strong points, and the entire team executed at an exceptional level. Two wins in three races and a double-podium weekend show the consistency we’re building.”
Da Costa acknowledged the wider context of the achievement. “To take my first victory with Jaguar and help the team become the most successful in Formula E history is something I’m incredibly proud of,” he said. “It’s only my fifth race with the team, and we’re already building something strong.”
Evans, long central to Jaguar’s Formula E journey, added: “To see Jaguar reach 24 wins and make history is special. We’re in a strong place as a team and there’s real momentum behind us.”
The result moves Jaguar TCS Racing to second in the Teams’ World Championship, with the manufacturer also holding second in the Manufacturers’ standings. Evans remains fifth in the drivers’ standings, while da Costa climbs to seventh after his breakthrough victory.
With Round 6 set for Madrid, and da Costa’s 150th Formula E start, Jaguar heads to Spain not merely as contenders, but as the benchmark. A decade after entering the championship, the Coventry marque now stands alone as Formula E’s most successful team.
And, on current form, it may not be finished yet.
