BYD Atto 3 Evo brings up to 443bhp and 316 miles’ range from £38,990
BYD has announced pricing for the Atto 3 Evo, which will go on sale in the UK from early April.
The heavily updated family SUV will be priced from £38,990, which the Chinese EV giant describes as a “modest” increase over the outgoing model’s £37,730 starting price.
As well as minor design changes typical of any midlife facelift, the new Atto 3 Evo brings a major upgrade to the previous model’s powertrain, thanks to a switch to 800V architecture.
The original 201bhp front-wheel-drive setup has been replaced with a choice of rear-wheel or all-wheel-drive arrangements. The entry-level single motor version produced 309 and 280lb ft and can get from 0-62mph in just 5.5 seconds. The all-wheel-drive model, meanwhile, adds a motor to the front axle and produces a total of 443bhp and 413lb ft, which delivers a 0-62mph time of just 3.9 seconds.
A battery upgrade to 74.8kWh brings 316 miles of range for the RWD variant and 292 miles for the AWD while charging power has doubled to 220kW courtesy of the new architecture. This allows a 10-80% charge in 25 minutes.

The new battery also sees the Atto 3 Evo switches to a cell-to-body construction. This improves vehicle rigidity for better ride and handling and also creates 50 litres more boot space and a new 95-litre frunk.
The new Atto 3 Evo is available in two trim levels linked to the different motor configurations.
Design spec costs £38,990, and comes exclusively with the single motor powertrain. It comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a heat pump, vehicle to load capability, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electrically adjustable heated front seats, a 15.6-inch Google-based touchscreen and wireless phone charging.
Excellence grade brings the all-wheel-drive setup and adds a head-up display, heated rear seats and a panoramic roof. It is priced from £42,730.
Orders for the updated Atto 3 Evo open on April 2, with deliveries commencing soon after.
