Andersen EV launches new A3 charger with CALLUM Design

High-end home charger maker Andersen EV has unveiled a new more compact and cheaper wallbox.

The Andersen A3 was launched at a special event at London’s Design Museum where the brand also revealed a special edition fascia created by famous design house CALLUM Design.

The A3 will be sold alongside the brand’s first device, the A2. Its facia is 20% smaller than the A2 and the A3, which has a maximum charge rate of 7kW compared with the A2’s 22kW, will start at £995 – around £300 less than the larger A2.

Like the A2, the A3 will be available in more than 240 colours and finishes, and features a tethered cable that is completely hidden when not in use. The A3 will offer an advanced solar feature that allows the user to directly manage the solar energy generated from panels fitted to their home and redistribute it to power their charging session. It also incorporates an updated version of the A2’s user interface with a more intuitive LED status indication, as well as a presence sensor, a convenience light located on the underside of the unit, and ‘theatre lighting’ on the cable storage lid.

David Martell, Andersen EV’s CEO, said: “The new A3 offers something entirely new in the domestic charge point sector, thanks to its compact proportions, premium-grade minimalist aesthetics and advanced technologies.

“It’s been a great experience to work with CALLUM Designs on the launch of the new ‘Andersen by CALLUM’ fascia, and our shared ethos of design-led luxury will see us bring further innovative collaborations to market.”

Callum Design was set up by former JLR design director, Ian Callum, who was responsible for the Aston Martin DB9 and Jaguar I-Pace among many other famous models. Its special edition cover for the new A3 is made from textured Cotswold oak featuring patterns inspired by the signature Callum tartan.”

Ian Callum commented: “As a design-led, British brand, CALLUM has a natural alignment with Andersen EV. We share the value that a functional product can also be beautiful and meaningful to the owner. The team has enjoyed creating the first of our bespoke fascias and looks forward to seeing them on the homes of Andersen EV customers.”
