Vauxhall brings price parity across all Astra powertains and bodies

Vauxhall has announced that all-electric versions of its updated Astra will cost the same as hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants.

The long-serving family hatchback is the latest Vauxhall to offer price parity across EV, hybrid and PHEV, after the Frontera was launched with matching EV and ICE prices.

Vauxhall has also said that there will be no price premium for choosing the estate over the hatchback bodystyle.

Prices for the new Astra Electric start at £29,995 – £5,000 less than the previous entry-level EV – and rise to £33,995.

The Astra Electric has been updated for 2026 with a bigger battery and longer range than before, as well as bringing vehicle-to-load capability and battery preconditioning for the first time.

All versions of the Astra Electric now get a 58.3kWh battery which offers up to 281 miles of range. That’s 22 miles more than before and marginally ahead of rivals such as the Kia EV4 and Volkswagen ID.3. However, both those alternatives also offer longer-range models with larger batteries.

Along with the technical updates, the 2026 Astra gets a refreshed exterior featuring a new Vizor grille with illuminated Griffin badge, similar to the Grandland.

Inside, the gloss black plastic surfaces have been replaced with a scratch-resistant satin grey finish and there are new physical buttons for key functions such as radio, climate control, and drive modes. The 10-inch infotainment system now comes with sat nav and wireless phone mirroring as standard, and all variants now feature Vauxhall’s unique Intelli-Seats.

The new Astra will go on sale in June in hatchback and Sports Tourer estate forms and with three trim levels.

New entry-level Griffin starts at £29,995, undercutting most key rivals. That features 18-inch alloy wheels on EV models (17-inch on the PHEV), tinted rear windows, heated front seats, the 10-inch infotainment screen and adaptive cruise control.

Above that, GS starts at £31,495 and adds a sportier exterior design, 10-inch digital instruments, keyless entry, dual-zone climate control and a reversing camera, as well as a driver’s seat certified by the German campaign for back health (AGR).

At the top of the range, the Ultimate trim adds adaptive Intelli-lux LED headlights, a head-up display, wireless phone charging, advanced driver aids including lane change assist, and an AGR-approved passenger seat. The front seats also feature a massage function and are finished in a 100% recycled ReNewKnit faux-Alcantara. Estate models also get a powered tailgate.

Orders for the 2026 Astra Electric will open in June, with first deliveries in July.
