E1 World Championship 2025 calendar adds new race locations

The E1 electric powerboat championship is expanding for 2025, with new venues around the globe joining returning races from season one.

After a successful first season that saw the zero-emission RaceBirds boats take to the water in five locations across Europe and the Middle East, the 2025 season is heading to the United States for the first time, as well as adding three more destinations, which will be revealed shortly.

The expanded race calendar will kick off on 24 January in Jeddah, the location for last year’s inaugural race. From there, the teams will visit the first of four new venues, in Doha on the weekend of 21/22 February.

Race three is set to take place at another new location, which is due to be revealed in the coming weeks, before a European double-header in Lake Como and Monaco. Another as-yet-to-be-name venue will host the sixth round of the championship before the teams head to the US to wrap things up in November.

Rodi Basso, co-founder and CEO of E1, said: “To see our revolutionary electric racing series come to life in season one was an incredibly special feeling. E1’s growth and expansion across the globe shows that it has arrived as a truly global sport.

“The inclusion of new race locations in Qatar and the United States in season two, with more to come, is a testament to the growing interest and investment in the championship and we are looking forward to taking the sport to new audiences.”

Team Brady pilots Emma Kimiläinen and Sam Coleman celebrate victory

The inaugural season wrapped up with NFL legend Tom Brady’s Team Brady being crowned Champions of the Water ahead of the Will Smith-owned Westbrook Racing and Marc Anthony’s Team Miami powered by Magnus.

All three teams are returning for the 2025 season, along with the six other outfits from season one, including those owned by sports stars including Rafael Nadal, Didier Drogba and F1 driver Sergio Perez. Championship bosses say more teams are expected to be announced ahead of the new season.

Alejandro Agag, co-founder and chairman of E1, added: “Our mission in season one was to revolutionise and set a new standard for racing on the water. We are pleased to unveil the season two calendar and to continue to drive towards our mission and expand on this success. The calendar sees an inclusion of new cities around the world who are aligned with our vision of building a sustainable sport, and passionate about E1.”
